Easy & Quick Valentines Crafts

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and another great excuse to get crafty!

For these tutorials, if you are a crafty queen like myself you will most likely have a lot of the materials already! We’re use scrap yarn, old clothes and old books to make some adorable V-Day decor!

So let’s get crafty!

1. Scrap Heart Garland <3

I love this project so much, it’s so easy to complete and you can make as many or as little as you like. I you just want one to hang up or you can make a beautiful garland to hang above your bed. I filled these with cut-up clothing but it would be lovely to fill these with lavender to make your room smell amazing! So for the project you will need:

  • Old fabric - leftover from a sewing project or old clothes (fun patterns and bright coloured preferred)

  • Sewing machine or needle and thread.

  • Stuffing - clothing scraps can be used for this or toy stuffing

  • String or yarn

  • Card

  • Scissors

I made two different kinds in this tutorial: a patchwork heart (which is a lot easier than it looks to make) and a simple 1 coloured one. You can do whatever you like, keep them all the same or mix and match like I did, which can make them really fun!

I used a sewing machine to sew mine together but you can easily sew them by hand, just make sure to keep your stitches together so there are no gaps for stuffing to get out!

2. Scrappy pom pom wreath

This pom pom wreath is another fun project! As a crocheter and knitter, I have so much yarn leftover projects. I store it all in the box with the hopes that some day it might become useful, and it finally has. Make this as colourful or not as colourful as you want.

You will need:

  • Wire - an old wire coat hanger could work or you can get wire at most craft shops

  • Leftover yarn

  • Super glue or glue gun

  • String or yarn

  • Pom-pom maker or cardboard

You can make these for all occasions, just change up the colours for different holidays!

Check out the tutorial here - starts 8 mins 15 seconds in.

3. Heart Newspaper Chain

The quickest project out of the 3, is a heart paper chain. These are been so popular in recent months, especially for Christmas so I thought I’d create a Valentine's day version.

Obvs, we’re using scrap materials over here so I thought I’d dig out an old book and use the pages to create the chain, however, if you are looking for something more colourful opt for colourful paper scraps, maybe out of a magazine!

You will need:

  • Old newspaper or book or card

  • Stapler

So simple and easy, make as long or as little as your heart (get it) desires!

Tutorial here - starts 12 mins 27 seconds in.
